FAQ
Why is the PC version free and not the mobile version?
Two reasons:
- Apple and Google add a lot of friction into developing mobile apps and I have to pay a yearly fee to them to be able to distribute the mobile app. The freemium model helps me cover the extra cost and effort of dealing with these platforms.
- I want to incentivize people to build plugins, and the only way to do this is on the PC version! Nobody should have to pay for the app in order to develop a Digital Carrot plugin.
Will you ever add a lifetime purchase for sync?
Absolutely not. Sync is expensive to maintain. I have to pay cloud providers in order to access compute and databases. On top of that I have to keep a constant eye on the sync server to ensure that it is running correctly. The subscription model allows me to ensure that this service can be funded sustainably.
